Classification and Characteristics of Toroidal Transformers
There are two types of toroidal transformers: autotransformer and isolation transformer. The input and output windings of the isolation transformer are completely independent. They are isolated from each other and have an insulating layer in between. They are used to avoid electric shock to the human body and protect personal safety. However, the input and output of the autotransformer have at least one common line, and the input and output are not insulated.
Toroidal Transformer
Toroidal isolation transformers and toroidal autotransformers have the advantages of toroidal transformers and their own characteristics.
Characteristics of toroidal isolation transformers:
1. It has filtering and anti-interference functions, which effectively reduces the high-frequency interference and instantaneous peak voltage of the power grid and increases the system impedance;
2. The safety of the human body is greatly improved. The output voltage after isolation has no voltage difference to the ground, and there is no danger of electric shock to the human body.
3. Stabilize the system voltage. When starting large-load equipment, it can reduce the impact on the system voltage;
4. Reduce the short-circuit current. When a short-circuit accident occurs on the load side, limit the short-circuit current of the system.
Characteristics of toroidal autotransformer:
1. Low standby energy consumption, lower no-load loss saves more energy during standby;
2. High working efficiency, high energy conversion efficiency, efficient green power supply.
3. No high-frequency electromagnetic radiation, the power frequency electric field and power frequency magnetic field generated by it have negligible impact on the environment and human body, and it is a healthy power supply.
4. Relatively small size, less consumables, and low cost.
